How To: Curate Your Creative Portfolio (With Free Template)

This week, the BRICKS team shares their top tips for editing the perfect portfolio, using feedback given at the BRICKS Office Open Day.

At our office open days held in April & May to celebrate the launch of BRICKS #14 The Resilience Issue, we were repeatedly asked the same question: does my portfolio look okay?

Editing others work can be much easier than editing our own work, so peer-reviewing portfolios at the open days was a really useful exercise for members to understand how best to put their portfolios together. However, for those who couldn’t make it to our open day, we wanted to share our top tips from these sessions on the Learner Platform for you to access anytime.

Below, we’ve compiled our best advice for nailing your portfolio for all creatives, and included some additional advice for specific roles, including photography, styling, hair & make-up, set design and art direction.

Plus, we’ve created an exercise template to complete to help you practice curating your work and understanding how to elevate your work through careful selection.
