ERNST Songwriting Retreat

In the past three years, we usually held our band retreat at a cabin in the Austrian mountains. Unfortunately, the cabin didn’t work out this year but we managed to do a retreat anyway:

Elias’ parents were so kind as to let us stay in their house in Hollabrunn.

Granted: The town of Hollabrunn, an hour away from Vienna, is not a particularly interesting town (fun fact: Elias, Philipp and Nicki went to school there).

… but I guess that’s a plus as we could actually focus on the task at hand: writing new songs! 🎶

For us, these intensive days are always an excellent opportunity to try out new sounds and to work on some ideas around lyrics I have been writing recently. I guess it works this well because there is no time pressure and we can leave the instruments set up for three days.

We’ll be improving these retreat demos in the next bit of time. So stay tuned for some new material in this newsletter!

ERNST in the mountains

The teaser picture of this newsletter already gave it away: we also had a very fun adventure in Vorarlberg, the westernmost state in Austria ⛰️⛰️⛰️

We played at a small gig organised by Karin and Markus Gmeiner (who did the last two music videos for Don’t Buy It (Öffnet in neuem Fenster) & No, Virginia, no! (Öffnet in neuem Fenster)).

The village of Müselbach is lovely: quite a few neighbours and friends of the Gmeiner family helped organise food and drinks – and donations for the band! 😋

We really had a blast— you can probably see that from the fantastic video Karin edited:

Hopefully, this wasn’t the last music fest they organised! We’d be back in a heartbeat!

Back in Vienna

In the last two weeks we played at hotel Ruby Marie and at Wild im West (Öffnet in neuem Fenster). Thanks to everyone who joined us there! 🤗

Pink Pony Club

Last but not least, I have finally braved it and dyed my hair pastel pink! 💗💗💗
