Die Niere, auch als Ren oder Nephros bezeichnet, ist ein paariges Organ, das beidseits der Wirbelsäule liegt, wobei die rechte Niere in der Regel etwas tiefer sitzt als die linke, was auf ihre Position unterhalb der Leber zurückzuführen ist.Â
