Hello dear Good News community,
If my parents had known this 30 years ago, we probably would have had a family dog. I was one of the babies who developed chronic asthma in the first four years of life. Now, a study from Canada shows that the dog allergen Can f 1 can actually protect babies from asthma. If that isn’t another good reason to have a dog! I had to wait 27 years—and now I can’t imagine life without one.

Kenya: Women over 50 take over the soccer field
In Kenya, women over 50 are defying the idea that soccer is only for the young. Through the “Kick for Health” program, they stay fit, improve their well-being, and build social connections. Medicine with a stop button
Researchers in the US and Germany have developed drugs with a built-in “off switch.” The principle: an additional molecule changes the shape of the active ingredient, immediately stopping its effect. Growing up with a dog lowers babies’ risk of asthma
Babies who grow up with dogs have a lower risk of developing asthma by the age of five. A study with 1,050 children found that infants exposed to higher levels of the dog allergen Can f 1 had about a 48% lower risk of developing asthma compared to others. Source: U.S. NEWS
