the bRAVEs: Adelina, when did you start making music?

Adelina: Hey there! I started making music back in school. I used to read a lot of poetry and always felt that poems were inherently incomplete without music. That is how my path in music began.

the bRAVEs: When was your first gig?

Adelina: I cannot pinpoint my very first public performance; but I do remember my first paid gig at a club. It was at Boom Boom Room, where I became a resident shortly after turning 18. I remember feeling really good that night.

the bRAVEs: On June 1st, 2024, you announced the launch of your label Oracool (Opens in a new window). But that name has a backstory. How did it start and what does it mean?

Adelina: The Oracool project started in 2017 when my artist friends and I were throwing parties in Kyiv and Odesa.

I’ve always felt that music carries a kind of prophetic nature.

A skilled orator leads the listener to their inevitable point of view, while Oracool allows space for interpretation.

the bRAVEs: Do you do everything yourself or is there a team?

Adelina: I’m trying to handle most of the tasks related to the label, but it wouldn’t be possible without people around me. At the start of the project, we worked a lot on the identity and visual representation of Oracool together with @studio_radar_ (Opens in a new window). Now I have a new assistant — we listen to music together. As for the events, another team of four people handles that side of the project.

the bRAVEs: What motivated you to start your own label?

Adelina: I’ve always been attracted to the idea of releasing music and drawing attention to its nuances. I simply love music and the vital force it carries.

the bRAVEs: What kind of music does Oracool draw on?

Adelina: For the first release, we focused on the exploration of broken sound. The second EP by miroslav062 (Opens in a new window) will delve more into electro direction. New music frequently traverses the boundaries between genres and styles, and I believe this fluidity will be reflected in Oracool’s releases.

the bRAVEs: The first release, “Sins (Opens in a new window)” also debuted on June 1st, 2024. Why did you choose that title?

Adelina: We have always been intrigued by the theme of sinfulness and mystical electronics — it perfectly encapsulated the mood we all shared this winter during the label’s creation.

the bRAVEs: The contributors to the release, such as Nastya Vogan, Koloah, SVZZ, Ewa Nomad — are they all acquaintances? How did you curate the compilation?

Adelina: Indeed, the compilation features tracks from my friends. Even though the war (Russian invasion of Ukraine – editors note) has scattered us across the globe, we remain united in our artistic vision. After the New Year, I reached out to the musicians whose work I admire. We spent some time listening to material, and by the end of March, we compiled the tracks into the release.

the bRAVEs: Do you have a favorite track?

Adelina: Christopher Bo (Opens in a new window)’s “My Sanctuary (Opens in a new window)” holds a special place for me.

the bRAVEs: What challenges do you foresee the label encountering in the future?

Adelina: Running a label is already a major challenge.

the bRAVEs: Are there plans to release physical media?

Adelina: To be announced.

the bRAVEs: On July 20th, there will be an Oracool Label Showcase (Opens in a new window) at Berlin’s Giri. What does this event mean for you?

Adelina: It’s a lot of fun to organize events. I listen to a lot of music, as always, and I’m very eager to hear performances from artists I truly love. I am confident in each of them, and even feel a tinge of sympathy for those who cannot attend the event.

the bRAVEs: Are there plans for individual solo releases from artists participating in the showcase, such as Stanislav Tolkachev, Koloah, or Travis or Alice? Can you share any future plans?

Adelina: Presently, our efforts are concentrated on the second solo release from miroslav062 (Opens in a new window), and we have already commenced work on our third release — another Various Artists compilation. While I cannot disclose specific details yet, the evolving roster of the label fills me with immense inspiration.

the bRAVEs: Do you have any message for Berlin electronic scene?

Adelina:

Be attentive; trust your heart; believe in yourself & never stop supporting Ukraine.

the bRAVEs: Thank you for your time!
