Your Albums of the Year 2025 Playlist is Here

Catch up with hours and hours of music from the chart that you have helped to bring to the world

Of all the editorial we create on The Quietus, it’s our annual Albums of the Year chart that has the biggest reach, always read by tens of thousands of people in the 12 months that follow its publication. We know that being featured in it makes a massive difference to artists, especially those from the further reaches, and hopefully leads people to the wider musical ecosystem we celebrate on tQ. If you’ve seen the site today (Opens in a new window) or opened the missive in our main mailing list, you’ll already have seen that the playlist of about eight hours of music is in the feature itself – if you’ve missed that, the links are below. Were it not for your support, this chart would not exist, and neither would tQ. We’d like to thank you for your continuing help in celebrating the best in new music against an increasingly hellish landscape *makes sweeping gestures in horror* out there, and for being the hard currency behind our antidote to the algorithm. A reminder in case you missed anything last month, the Low Culture Podcast featured John and Luke discussing the cultural history of Doc Martens boot (Opens in a new window), the Low Culture Essay remembered Ozzy Osbourne in the context of the strange 1989 Moscow Music Peace Festival (Opens in a new window), and the Organic Intelligence newsletter was on the Legacy of Bollywood disco legend, Bappi Lahiri (Opens in a new window). Subscriber Plus members can find November’s bonus playlists – including David Lynch, Kevin Shields essentials, early Cabaret Voltaire and more – here (Opens in a new window). With many thanks again for all your help keeping the power on.
