Jan 20, 1983. Finn and Hengest (Opens in a new window) is published.
Jan 21, 1889. Edith Bratt (Opens in a new window) is born in Gloucestershire.
Jan 22, 1928. Tolkien reads a paper, The Chill Barbarians of the North (Opens in a new window), at a meeting of the Newman Society (Opens in a new window), in Oxford.
Jan 24, 1972. Tolkien writes Letter 332 (Opens in a new window), on his move to Merton and bereavement.
