Hi, I'm Nick Platzer, documentary filmmaker, cinematographer and colorist based at Lake Constance in the south of Germany.
For the past three years I was behind the camera of THE LAST PLACES - Path to the Roots: a feature documentary that took us to some of the most remote communities of South Sudan, Angola, Cameroon and Nigeria, together with nature photographer Markus Mauthe, human rights activist Diáka Koroma and ethnologist Joan Riera. The film won international festival awards. And then we did something unusual with it: we released it on YouTube, in full length, completely free.
Why? Because the people who opened their villages, homes and lives to us should be able to watch their own story. No paywall, no borders.
But free films still cost money to make. We produce independently, with no broadcaster and no big studio behind us. That's where you come in. Your support:
