Now, please appreciate I know nothing about horses.
Like, truly, nothing.
Sure, I have sat on a number of these animals - including a huge specimen in the Indian Ocean during my honeymoon as my then wife, like almost all women I have ever met, loved riding and/ or owned horses themselves.
So I had to hobble along with her. Try sitting graciously on a huge exercise ball at your first try. That’s how I felt.
Anyway. Horses are essential company to the human condition. You might add cats and dogs on about the same level, ignoring that those don’t usually get forced to fight in battles.
Having said all of this, I do know that horses play an important role in certain episodes of Tolkien’s writings. This is neither the time nor the place to go through all of these mentions, the sources of inspirations and all the other incredibly interesting things (you know, ‘the horse and the rider’, Tolkien’s experiences in military service, the Riders of Rohan as ‘Anglo-Saxons with horses’ who could have won in 1066 - if they had had horses - and so on.)
No, this is the place for something truly silly.
So, another Fingolfin’s Findings.
Race horse names inspired by Middle-earth.
