We all know this feeling before an exam, a performance, a test, or any other challenge where we want to do well: Our heart starts to beat faster, and then there is that nervous flutter in the stomach. Anxiety.
And we all know: A bit of this type of nervous energy can be motivating. A bit more of it feels uncomfortable. A bit too much, and we’re not doing as well as we would like to.
In this post, I am speaking about research that is looking into the connection between anxiety and excitement. Excitement, it turns out, might be closer to anxiety than you think – and it can make you a better singer, a more convincing speaker, and even better at maths. Let’s look at how that works, and how you might be able to use it for your English.
