Intensity in the Image

This week I have another quote for you:

Rene Burri: “What counts is putting the intensity that you yourself have experienced into the picture. Otherwise it is just a document.”

How often do we simply make a snapshot because something looks beautiful, because the light is just right, because we want to "capture a moment." But what remains when we look at the image later? A pretty photo, or actually a feeling?

For me, photography begins when I bring something of myself into it. I do not just show what I see, but what moves me, what caught my eye, what I find unusual or too ordinary. I then try to observe, not just look, but feel.

What touches me emotionally? And how can I make this feeling visible?

Perhaps this is precisely the difference between an image and a document.

Und wieder ein Zitat, ein Gedanke, die mich inspiriert haben, diesmal von:

Rene Burri: „Was zählt ist, die Intensität, die du persönlich erlebt hast, in ein Bild fließen zu lassen. Ansonsten ist es nur ein Dokument.“

Wie oft knipsen wir einfach drauflos, weil es schön aussieht, weil das Licht gerade stimmt, weil wir „den Moment festhalten“ wollen. Doch was bleibt, wenn wir uns später das Bild ansehen? Ein hübsches Foto, oder tatsächlich ein Gefühl?

Für mich beginnt Fotografie dort, wo ich etwas von mir mit hineinbringe. Ich zeige nicht nur das, was ich sehe, sondern das, was mich bewegt. das was mir aufgefallen ist, das, was ich ungewöhnlich oder zu gewöhnlich finde. Ich versuche dann, zu beobachten, nicht nur zu schauen, sondern zu spüren.

Was hat mich da gerade berührt? Und wie kann ich dieses Gefühl sichtbar machen?

Vielleicht ist genau das der Unterschied zwischen einem Bild und einem Dokument.
