Protein fibers set to revolutionize the fashion industry
Engineers in the U.S. have used synthetic biology to develop protein-based textile fibers that can be recycled infinitely. Because these materials, produced in bioreactors, are completely biodegradable, they solve two core problems of the fashion industry at once: the massive mountain of textile waste and the microplastic pollution in our oceans caused by washing clothes. Clean energy for heavy industry thanks to a new heat-resistant fuel cell
Engineers have achieved a major breakthrough in the efficiency of hydrogen fuel cells. A newly developed, ultra-thin membrane made of graphene and boron nitride enables ultra-fast proton transport at extreme temperatures for the first time. This technology drastically simplifies system design and paves the way for zero-emission applications in heavy industry and transportation. Source: TECH XPLORE
