I love train travel—just sit down, read a book or doze off for a bit, and suddenly you’ve arrived. In the EU, this will soon get even faster: the European Commission is planning a continent-wide high-speed rail network. The goal is to make short-haul flights largely unnecessary.

A Kenyan environmental court has upheld the cancellation of the permit for the planned 1,050-megawatt coal power plant in Lamu. The court found the environmental assessment insufficient and public participation lacking. Australia tests free solar power at midday

EU plans new ultra-fast rail network
With the new European high-speed rail network, the EU Commission aims to significantly speed up train travel—such as traveling from Berlin to Copenhagen in just four hours. Austria launches free shingles vaccination
