Research team discovers biological vulnerability of deadly brain tumors
A new approach in the fight against the usually fatal glioblastoma is raising hopes in cancer research. The experimental therapy does not attack the tumor itself, but instead blocks the extensive network of surrounding cells that supplies the aggressive brain cancer. Italy plans its first solar-powered railway line based on a Swiss model
Following a successful pilot project in Switzerland, Italy is now also planning to install solar modules between railway tracks. The Swiss startup Sun-Ways, which already operates a test track in Buttes, is currently in negotiations with the Italian rail network operator RFI and is also preparing projects in South Korea. Multilingualism keeps the brain significantly younger
Speaking multiple languages can measurably slow down the aging of the brain. Using magnetic field measurements and artificial intelligence, an international research team discovered that neural networking remains more stable the more languages a person speaks and the earlier they learned them. New tactile sensor gives robots a finer touch
Engineers at Queen Mary University of London have developed a tactile sensor that converts mechanical forces directly within the material into color patterns. Using a simple USB camera, robots can thus optically ""see"" pressure and strain in real time. This opens up new possibilities for highly sensitive medical prosthetics. Source: TECH XPLORE

New retrofit filters stop microplastics in the washing machine
A British startup has developed a microplastic filter that can be retrofitted to any washing machine in just ten minutes. In tests, the device filters 97 percent of synthetic textile fibers out of the wastewater and is already being distributed by the first major manufacturers. Source: EURONEWS
