Belgium’s Nina Pinarronze, 19, surprisingly took bronze at the World Championships in Prague after overcoming an injury in the fall that kept her off the ice for months.
Nina, congratulations again, so what a perfect performance for you, what a way to end the season and you said you could not imagine at the beginning of the year when you were injured and struggling. After going through all that, what does it mean to be here today?
Nina: I didn't have a lot of time to reflect on it yet. I cannot realize it yet but of course it's really special. I had no expectations. I just came here to skate the last competition of the season and I felt ready in practice but I just had to do it on the right moment. After the short I was already surprised with the five top five and I said in the interview that it would be hard to stay in the top five but I guess that helped to maybe not have too many expectations of myself and to not put so much pressure on myself. After the free skate, I was really happy and I knew it was a good skate but I didn't really know what the others did before and what they would do after me. I still had had no idea and when the results came, it was just a shock. I don't think anyone would have expected it, I don't think Belgium would have expected it, so it's really special. I just hope in the future I can get other medals but I don’t want to have too much pressure. I skated for fun and I got a medal so I just have to get that mindset that I don't have to think about results. I just have to think about what I want to achieve myself.
