How To: Work With Your Friends
This week, the BRICKS team gathers advice from photographers, designers and stylists on how to make creative partnerships with friends thrive.

Working with friends can feel like the most natural step in your creative journey. After all, who better to build something with than the people who already understand your vision, your taste, and your energy? For emerging creatives, collaboration is often the key to turning ideas into reality – and starting with your closest circle can feel both exciting and reassuring.
“I think creative partnerships are really interesting, especially because you can bounce ideas off each other constantly,” says photographer, director and co-founder of Bedroom Projects (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre), Amir Hossain (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre). “You have someone you trust to keep you grounded and humble and you can sometimes get wrapped up in ideas, and you have a partner by your side who can tell you if it's actually good or not. It's great to have a sounding board, someone to bounce off and develop ideas together.”
But, as many artists will tell you, mixing friendship with work can come with its own set of challenges. This week, the BRICKS team spoke to photographers, fashion designers and stylists about how to navigate those blurred lines – sharing their best advice on communication, trust, and keeping collaboration fun. Whether you’re building a brand with your best mate or planning your first shoot with friends, their insights will help you create something that lasts.
