How We Captured our CMAT Cover Shoot in Just 4 Hours

This week, BRICKS founder Tori West shares her creative process behind producing BRICKS’ latest digital cover with Irish superstar CMAT.

To celebrate the launch of the BRICKS CMAT Voices digital cover (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre) released today, I wanted to share how I developed the creative direction, everything that went down on-set, and how we brought this vision to life with post-production.

For most creative shoots, I like to draw from a single source of inspiration, whether that’s film, comic book, or fable. But when it came to envisioning a BRICKS cover with Irish superstar CMAT (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre), an artist who thrives on pulling ideas from the most unexpected places, I wanted to tap into that same playful, eclectic side of my own imagination (you can thank my autism).

We actually only had four hours to capture this shoot, which was a bit of a challenge in itself with outfit, hair and makeup changes. To combat this, we had to come up with creative solutions to cut down shooting time, while still ensuring we captured what we needed and to a high standard. As well as sharing my sources of inspiration, I’ve also shared my production tricks for when you don’t have that much time on-set.
