Slight increase in the global childhood vaccination rate
According to a recent report by the WHO and UNICEF, 85% of children worldwide received the recommended vaccinations against diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough — about one million more than the previous year. Measles vaccination rates also saw a slight increase. At the same time, the organizations warn of potential setbacks caused by misinformation. Source: REUTERS

Australia launches climate visa for residents of Tuvalu
Tuvalu, an island nation in the South Pacific, is especially affected by the impacts of the climate crisis. In November 2023, Australia introduced a so-called climate visa for Tuvaluan residents. Since early 2025, up to 300 people from Tuvalu per year have been eligible for this special visa, which allows them to live, study, and work in Australia. Source: BBC

New blood test detects MS long before first symptoms
A research team at the Medical University of Vienna has developed a blood test that can detect multiple sclerosis (MS) years before symptoms appear. Otter spotted in Malaysia for the first time in over a decade
In the Tangkulap Forest Reserve in the Malaysian state of Sabah, a Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra) has been spotted for the first time in more than ten years.
