Postcard from the 2023 Rotterdam Film Festival

Hello there,

A little postcard from Rotterdam, where I’ve just been for the film festival. I first attended the festival in 2008, and the first film I saw there, at the Cinerama (still one of the main festival hubs) was Jean-Claude Brisseau’s À l'aventure, which was basically a quasi-pornographic art movie that had managed to draw a fairly serious audience of locals and critics. It was pretty good too, if somewhat surprising! (I hadn’t done much research and was seeing completely random movies).
