the bRAVEs: Describe yourself in five brief bullet points. :)

Nastya: Creative, Strong, Courageous, Charismatic, Attractive

the bRAVEs: You moved to Kyiv from a small town. When was that, and how did the city influence you back then?

Nastya: I moved to Kyiv from the south of Ukraine, from a city called Nova Kakhovka, in 2017 when I began studying at a linguistic university. Education itself wasn’t what truly inspired me,

but Kyiv’s underground nightlife completely captured my heart.

My most visited spots were Otel, Mezzanine, Plivka,Jugendhub, and CXEMA.

Since childhood, I’ve been deeply connected to electronic music, influenced by my dad’s taste. When I finally discovered raves, I felt an instant sense of belonging like I had finally found my true place.

the bRAVEs: You moved to Montreal, where you also started DJing. Could this be a manifestation of negative emotions associated with the war?

Nastya: I think my story began even earlier than the war. I always wanted to try DJing. I was a musician before,  a guitar player in a band. Back in Kyiv, I dreamed of becoming a DJ, but something was always missing: first confidence, then money, then time.

When the war started, something shifted in my mind. I realized life is too short not to follow your passion, at least to try. So I quit the job I hated, made the decision to start a new life in Canada, and finally gave myself the chance to begin DJing.

the bRAVEs: What impressed you after your arrival in Montreal, and what put you off?

Nastya: I was really impressed by how nice people are. I think everyone has heard that Canadians are super polite; they'll say “sorry” a hundred times, even when it’s not their fault.

The thing that threw me off was the alcohol rules. Shops can only sell it until 11 p.m., and bars or clubs until 3 a.m. For me, that was super strange, and I used to complain every time the cutoff came.

the bRAVEs: Was it easy for you to find like-minded people?

Nastya: The first year was definitely the most challenging. I was lucky, though, because some of my friends from Ukraine had also moved to Montreal. I started going to parties, sometimes even on my own, and that’s how I met like-minded people. But it definitely took me a while to find my circle.

the bRAVEs: Now in Berlin. What do you expect from the city?

Nastya:

Moving to Berlin was a very brave decision, and I think it was one of the hardest choices of my life.

But I believe it will finally bring me peace of mind and allow me to settle down for a long time. I’ve already lived in five different cities, so at this point I’m really looking for stability. Of course, my main goal is to develop my artistic path,  and Berlin is the best place to do that.

the bRAVEs: You recently played for the first time in Kyiv at Veselka. Tell us how it went and how you felt.

Nastya: Nowhere else will ever feel like home! The Ukrainian crowd is simply the best, the energy is always unmatched. There were so many moments that brought tears to my eyes, so much nostalgia… Seeing my friends come to my gigs and support me gave me the most unforgettable emotions. I truly wish to play more in Ukraine,  it will always be something special.

the bRAVEs: What impresses you most when you travel to Ukraine?

Nastya: The people, their bravery, the strength of my nation, and the unity we share.

There is nothing that can break us, and I’m so proud of that.

the bRAVEs: What does your future look like in three years?

Nastya: I see myself living back in Kyiv, with the war over and Ukraine victorious. There’s truly no place in the world like Kyiv for me. I envision myself as a successful artist with a dedicated crowd that values what I bring to the nightlife scene. I also see myself involved in organizing event series in Ukraine, or maybe even running a club. My main goal is to keep growing and developing Ukraine’s underground scene, the very place where I grew up and which shaped me as an artist.
