Vol Flint’s Guide to Slimes

And so comes this guide, a collection of my knowledge of the most peculiar creatures I have encountered and faced, both in peaceful observation and in deadly combat, in the hopes that any traveler and would-be adventurer may be prepared for a possible encounter as much as I did, or in some cases, I wish I could’ve been.

Vol Flint’s Guide to Slimes is a digital expansion module for tabletop role-playing games designed with a single goal: give you a PhD in Slimesophy (Slimology? Slimethics?) with dozens of highly-detailed descriptions and stats for Slimes of every color, shape, and size.

Vol Flint with a Gum Slime, a Pig Slime and a Coffee Slime

Why slimes, you ask? They’re not just dangerous; they’re also irresistibly adaptable. From rare and bizarre subspecies in different biomes to their peculiar behaviors and awe-inspiring abilities, a world of slimes is waiting to be studied, domesticated, or even hunted. And let’s be honest, we really liked drawing them.

Vol Flint’s Guide to Slimes is system-agnostic, so all the creatures are designed to be used in your favorite TTRPG with minimal effort required by GMs.

For each Slime, you’ll have a complete stat block with statistics and active and passive abilities, but also a wealth of information to build a meaningful encounter with it:

  • a clear and thorough description of the creature;

  • its behavior in nature and when endangered by adventurers or natural predators;

  • the environment where the Slime lives;

  • the chance to encounter one during your adventures;

  • its social structure, if present;

  • the diet;

  • the resources you can extract from it, lethally or not;

  • its domesticability rating (which is almost always a silly idea to begin with).

There are enough resources in Vol Flint’s Guide to Slimes to help your encounters have a pinch of oozy unpredictability and fun. Who doesn’t want to see your ranger or druid digested while trying to tame a Fury Slime?
