Show some backbone

Show some backbone - grow a spine!

Just like in German, "showing backbone" means that someone has the strength to do difficult things, and to act in line with their moral compass.

What does it mean to you to show "Rückgrat"?

No matter whether your English feels strong and flexible, weak and cowardly, or rigid and self-righteous: This episode is for you.

And: If you also feel that the world needs more people with a bit of backbone, and if you're also wondering how you might strengthen your own, listen to this podcast episode by my coaching colleague and podcasting buddy Margot Böhm (Opens in a new window), which inspired me to turn some random ideas in my head into a more coherent reflection on this topic.

This episode is a bit longer than usual! Some of you asked for a longer podcast episode, so here it is! If you worry about a longer episode, use one of these tricks:

  1. Listen to it in sections.

  2. Listen and only focus on the gist.

  3. Listen and read the transcript.

Have fun! And let me know what you think about the idea of adding the occasional longer podcast episode in English.
