From open-cast mining to Europe’s largest artificial lake district

I was particularly delighted by one news story today—and amazed that it even made it into the international press: I’m talking about Europe’s largest artificial lake district. It isn’t being built in some major metropolis, but right in the Lusatia region. Since I grew up nearby, this project is very close to my heart.

EU approves €1.3 billion for peatland restoration
