The Spanish government plans to remove more than 53,000 illegal vacation rentals from online platforms. According to the Ministry of Housing, the freed-up apartments will soon be made available on the regular housing market. The travel platforms have already been notified. Source: NEW STRAITS TIMES

WHO launches Ebola vaccination campaign
Following a new Ebola outbreak, the WHO has launched the first vaccination campaign in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A total of 45,000 vaccine doses are available, and the first doses have already been administered to medical staff and infected individuals. Source: PBS NEWS

Pacific island nations etablish climate fund
Eighteen Pacific island nations have established a joint climate fund to better protect themselves from the impacts of the climate crisis. An initial $500 million will go into the fund, with a long-term goal of reaching $1.5 billion. Source: THE GUARDIAN

EU approves new law to combat food waste
After negotiations among the 27 EU member states, the European Parliament has passed a law aimed at reducing food waste. By 2030, EU countries are expected to cut their food waste by up to 30 percent. In addition, textile manufacturers will now contribute to the costs of recycling used clothing. Source: DW

Blood test could make Alzheimer’s diagnosis easier
A groundbreaking study is examining whether a simple blood test could replace invasive and costly procedures in diagnosing Alzheimer’s. The focus is on the protein p-tau217, which may enable early and reliable detection. Led by University College London, patients in memory clinics across the country are being evaluated. Amazon rainforest protected areas promote health
Protected areas in the Amazon help safeguard people in nearby communities from diseases, according to a new study. Indigenous communities play a particularly important role in preserving the rainforest.
