To celebrate the Philippines‘ guest of honour appearance at the 2025 Frankfurt Book Fair, Literatur.Review (Si apre in una nuova finestra) embarks on a literary journey through the archipelago, from Manila to Naga City and Cavite to Santa Monica. Axel Timo Purr meets authors writing in Filipino, English and Bikol, exploring themes of self-determination, language, family, corruption, love, and the courage to trust one’s own stories. The result is a polyphonic portrait of a country constantly finding new forms of expression between past and future, megacity and myth, science fiction and spirituality.
