021 Drawing Pain

Every animated film can be considered art, no matter the emotional depth, visual appeal or complexity. Art lies not only in the craftsmanship, but also in the contact with the audience. Some projects are created to make people laugh, others to teach, and again others to touch hearts. How can one speak to the heart if one does not master the language of the heart? We tell the stories of martyrs, and although we do not lay down our lives as they did, we must still experience a tiny glimpse of martyrdom. For only those who know pain can depict pain. We have chosen the rocky path. It would certainly be easier to work on a lighthearted children’s series, but someone must bring the stories of our saints into people’s homes and fight against the darkness of modern media. As God often likes to do, He does not choose the qualified, but qualifies the chosen. During production, we have lost so much, fought so hard, and there are still so many battles ahead. However, without these battles, we would never gain the strength needed to create this work pleasing to God.
