New milestone in artificial blood production
Due to limited donations, scientists have been working for years to develop artificial blood. Now, a major breakthrough has been made: researchers have decoded the final step of blood formation—the stage where cells produce red blood cells. Innovative incubator saves babies in Africa
Spanish engineer Pablo Bergasa developed a special incubator for African hospitals in 2017. Unlike traditional devices, it runs on a battery and a water bottle—and is much more affordable. Around 200 units have been distributed worldwide, saving the lives of about 5,000 babies so far. Source: BBC

Heart attacks: death rate drops by 90 percent over 50 years
According to a new U.S. study, the death rate following a heart attack has dropped by 90% over the past 50 years. This major decline is largely due to advances in prevention and treatment. At the same time, other heart conditions — such as arrhythmias — have become more common. Source: SCRIPPS NEWS

Better sleep with yoga, tai chi and more
People who practice yoga, tai chi, or go jogging in the evening tend to sleep better. That’s the finding of a meta-analysis from Peking University. Mindful movement and breathing help calm both body and mind, balance hormone levels, and stimulate melatonin production — all of which promote deep, restorative sleep. Source: INDEPENDENT

British government proposes lowering the voting age to 16
The British government plans to lower the voting age in the United Kingdom to 16 for all elections. The goal is to increase voter turnout. In Scotland and Wales, 16- and 17-year-olds can already vote in regional and local elections —but not in parliamentary elections. Source: BBC

Rare dwarf kiwi spotted
An extremely rare little spotted kiwi has been seen on New Zealand’s mainland for the first time in nearly 50 years. Experts are calling it a miracle. The flightless bird was long considered extinct on the mainland and had survived only on five offshore islands. Source: RNZ
