Forget the “new year, new me” rebrand, these are some easily achievable resolutions that will help you stay organised, feel motivated, and limit overwhelm as we enter 2026.

A belated Happy New Year to you all. I hope you were able to take a proper break over the festive period, whether that meant disappearing to a quiet town, spending time with family, or doing absolutely nothing on your own sofa with your feet up. I appreciate I’m sharing this on the 12th January (apologies for my tardiness this week, our newsletters will return to regular Friday scheduling this week), when the novelty of the year has very much worn off, but someone tell that to my TikTok feed, which seems determined to keep the new year rhetoric of resolutions, rebrands and relentless goals at the forefront of my mind (and my nightmares).
Before the holidays, we discussed the importance of stepping away (Si apre in una nuova finestra) from our usual routines, not to come back with a brand new identity, but to give our brains a chance to reset. Oftentimes, we need rest for new ideas to arise and inspirations to be discovered.
Which is why today I wanted to share a little reminder that “new year” doesn’t have to mean a new you. There’s a lot of pressure to treat January like a personal relaunch. But in my experience, most personal rebrands aren’t really about growth or redirection, but are often fuelled by avoidance.
Usually, it isn’t a lack of clarity or confidence that gets in the way; it’s the backlog we’re carrying with us – the project we stalled on in December, the misplaced files and V_finalfinal2.pdfs spread across too many places, and the lack of ease in our day-to-day systems that can hold us back and trip us up at the first signs of doubt or procrastination.
That said, January’s focus on self-reflection can be useful when approached carefully. Even though it’s cold, dark, and money often feels tight, this quieter stretch can be a good moment to put simple habits in place and realign with what you actually want to work towards. This is not about a dramatic overhaul, just a gentle reset of priorities.
So this week, I wanted to share a handful of genuinely doable resolutions for emerging creatives; practical things that help you stay organised, reduce overwhelm, and help you commit to your goals for the year ahead.
