This post comes one day later than usual. But there’s a GOOD reason for it. While I try to have something ready to read for you by Sunday, this time… I was unable to do so yesterday. It inspired today's post, though. Read on …
New sight on things
I got LASIK surgery on Friday, and oh my. On Saturday morning I was able to see things already, where I always needed glasses before.
The surgery itself; let’s say I am happy I only do it once; but now I am seeing improvements every day. While on Saturday I was unable to look at screens really, on Sunday it became better already, and today … I can actually sit here and write.
Things are still blurry sometimes, but that’s part of the healing process apparently.
Overall, I can see now, and there's no need to wear glasses or lenses anymore. Taking a shower and seeing the world around you is a miracle. And it got me to appreciate again some of the miracles (yes, miracles that would not have been imaginable 50 years ago) that are just so affordable today. LASIK surgery is one (I paid 2K EURs 😮), but our rapid technical advances are another one.
The cake is a lie
Last week I called that there’s a high chance Moltbook is not the magical thing, people want it to be. It turned out it was mostly humans writing things and just pushing new content via curl - well, there you go. No AGI … which I believe is a good thing for now.
But the real deal is the new releases of Claude. Opus 4.6 (although many people hoped for v5) seems to be another magical step forward. And again … it’s a miracle to have a tool as versatile and helpful as Claude available for 20 EURs a month.
Sure, it was years and years of R&D and technological advances and all, but while we often get numb to these leaps because of the rapid pace the current advances happen, it’s still something to sometimes just be impressed by.
The next evolution of UI
Some months ago I wrote a post on my previous Substack that I now ported over to my new Nerdwerk platform.
Read The UI is Dead. Long live the UI (Öffnet in neuem Fenster)
What’s my favorite thing about this is, Claude announced MCP UI, and it’s basically the next evolution of it. If you are building UIs this is amazing news. Stay on top of everything here:
