Verse 24 of Vilāpa Kusumāñjali explores the extraordinary power of heartfelt longing, the inner life of smaraṇa, and the unwavering loyalty of the Vraja-devīs. Through stories of great devotees and intimate līlās of Śrī Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, we learn that divine realization is not attained through external effort alone, but through deep absorption and grace. This lecture reveals how tears, remembrance, and loving attachment gradually purify the heart.

01:00 Reading of verse 24 & commentary by Ananta dās Bābājī

02:55 Explanation by Pratibhā Goswāmī: The tears of a devotee have the power to draw Rādhe Jū and Thākur Jī near. Such tears must be filled with genuine bhāva.

04:46 Bhakta story: Nandagāon Bābā, a saint living in Nandagāon, concealed his spiritual identity while constantly lamenting for Kṛṣṇa’s darśana. Every day he fed a dog who knew Kṛṣṇa’s path after cow-herding. Eventually the Bābā received darśana.

14:42 Continued reading of Ananta dās Bābājī’s commentary: Raghunātha dāsa Goswāmī rejects buttermilk offered from Candrāvalī’s camp, out of exclusive loyalty to Rādhe Jū.

22:25 Bhakta story: Upamanyu, a devotee of Lord Śiva. Śiva tests whether his devotees desire anything other than him by appearing disguised as Indra. Rādhe Jū reveals herself according to the devotee’s level of realization.

26:00 Continued reading

28:30 Līlā: Tulasī applies tilaka to Rādhe Jū’s forehead. Listen to the sweet exchange between Rādhā and Tulasī. Then Kṛṣṇa suddenly arrives.

36:05 Continued reading & explanation: mane smaraṇa prāṇa—remembrance is the life-air of the devotee’s mind (Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura). The mood of “Kṛṣṇa is mine”. The ecstatic condition of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu in the Gambhīrā. The mañjarīs experience the feelings of Rādhe Jū.

43:30 Līlā: Kṛṣṇa wishes to learn bhāva-niṣṭhā (steadfast loving loyalty to Rādhā) from Rādhā herself. She sends Him to her mañjarīs. Kṛṣṇa approaches Tulasī with attractive offers, but she firmly rejects Him.

46:52 Continued reading

47:56 Līlā: Rādhe Jū hides within the nikunja to observe Kṛṣṇa’s restlessness. Kṛṣṇa begs Rūpa Mañjarī for assistance.

50:40 Continued reading: After hearing Kṛṣṇa’s flute, Rādhe Jū faints in ecstatic swoon for six hours. Kṛṣṇa gently touches her head with His foot to awaken her. Her kuṅkuma marks His foot and falls upon the ground, where it is collected by the Pulinda girls (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam pastime).

54:48 Līlā: Why should Rādhā not go to the Yamunā banks at midnight? Pratibhā Goswāmī elaborates on this līlā.

1:01:22 Q&A

1:05:42–1:07:22 Glimpse: rūpa-dhyāna is the life-force of bhajana. It is the mind—not merely the body—that performs sādhana.

1:08:07–1:08:35 Glimpse: tears cleanse the heart. Śrī Caitanya teaches that bhajana becomes successful when Thākur Jī personally comes to wipe away the devotee’s tears with His pītāmbara.

1:10:23–1:11:28 Glimpse: no artificial detachment is required; detachment naturally arises through absorption in bhakti.
