La guerra del Vietnam (pt. 10): le scelte di Kennedy

Il 20 gennaio 1961, nel suo discorso di insediamento alla Casa Bianca, John Fitzgerald Kennedy proclama: "Lasciate che ogni nazione sappia, sia che ci voglia bene o che ci voglia male, che noi pagheremo qualsiasi prezzo, sopporteremo qualsiasi peso, incontreremo qualsiasi difficoltà, sosterremo qualsiasi amico, ci opporremo a qualsiasi nemico, per assicurare la sopravvivenza e il successo della libertà". Ben presto, il Vietnam diventa il banco di prova per queste affermazioni, con l'incombere di una scelta che il presidente vorrebbe non fare: inviare i soldati americani.
