Thanks to Ian Collier I was reminded of a series of short introductory films the British Council produced in the 1940s. Well over a hundred of them - from Architects of England (Abre numa nova janela) over Merseyside (Abre numa nova janela) to Development of the Rabbit (Abre numa nova janela).
