Future of Europe agenda is Ukraine
Xhabir Deralla speaks to UKRINFORM, the Ukrainian National News Agency about the fate of Ukraine and the future of democracy in Europe
Xhabir Deralla is a civic activist, journalist, and co-founder of the influential non-governmental organisation CIVIL– Center for Freedom, (Si apre in una nuova finestra) based in Skopje, North Macedonia as well as the Defending Democracy Global Initiative.
He is an outspoken supporter of Ukraine in its struggle against Russian, tyranny, aggression and disinformation. In 2023, he was awarded the Order of Merit by President Zelensky, for his contribution to strengthening intergovernmental cooperation and supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Xhabir joined the board of New Europeans People’s Forum on 26 June 2025.

In a wide-ranging interview for the Ukrainian National News Agency, UKRINFORM, Xhabir sets out the background to his own commitment to Ukraine’s struggle for freedom as well as his hopes and fears for the future of democracy in Europe.
He also reports on the establishment of two new initiative involving both CIVIL and New European People’s Forum, namely Defending Democracy International (Si apre in una nuova finestra)and the Westminster Alliance for Ukraine (Si apre in una nuova finestra).
