Geister / Entropielyrik III (2026). Sometimes these echoes are visible or perceptible only to, or hold meaning only for me. Sometimes these echoes are faint, and sometimes we can hardly escape their calls.

Spread N° 14 from "ghosts / entropy poetry III".

These thoughts relate to drawings I recently completed: In my artist book ghosts / entropy poetry III, over the course of two or three years, I wove skeletal, plant-like protagonists and cemetery architecture together with lonely Christmas market stalls into wintry ruins, brittle and abandoned as it seems. I am preoccupied (both personally and politically) with the question of what might grow on the ruins we leave behind, in the wreckage and objects we abandon—and those we abandoned long ago—which decay at their own pace once the forces that keep them ordered subside.

Spread N° 01 from "ghosts / entropy poetry III".

In her essay The Mushroom at the End of the World, Anna Lowenhaupt Tsing writes about the matsutake mushroom, which prefers to grow on soil ravaged and ruined by industrialization and which cannot be cultivated under controlled conditions. It is not only a high-priced delicacy, but its ascetic practice also prepares the soil for everything that follows it. I really like this image. It resonates with the spirit of resistance I sense in the spindly yet determined plants in my own drawings—a spirit we for sure need more than ever right now.

ghosts / entropy poetry III (2026).

aus "still / Entropielyrik IV"

still / Entropielyrik IV

still / Entropielyrik IV

Ansehen

english version

from "still/Entropy Poetry IV" (2026). In this sluggish slowness, in these barely perceptible movements, I discover a thought that has been growing alongside my recently finished book of entropy poetry, on which I have been working for quite some time, taking it one small step at a time:

The English word still describes the continuation of or the remaining in a situation. In German, still means “quiet” or “motionless”. Doing nothing, not being productive. Becoming a still image, a film still, a still life. I no longer wish to view the still life as a reminder of my own transient nature, but rather as a monument to unproductive yet necessary states.

Here, it's unproductive machines, space debris, maybe. They simply ceased to fulfill their original function at some point and now, frozen in their final movement after their power supply ran out and the last bit of voltage dropped, drift in the cool void. There is freedom and beauty in not being productive—and an opportunity to think about things differently.

aus "still / Entropy Poetry IV"

still / Entropy Poetry IV

still / Entropy Poetry IV

In other news

Based on your suggestions, there is now yet another, middle-priced option through which you can support my work:

Show Me
