I’m very excited at the prospect of being able to interview the great, if illusive Spanish filmmaker Victor Erice on the occasion of his new film, Close Your Eyes, which plays at the 2023 London Film Festival. He’s not a very prolific filmmaker: his previous feature, The Quince Tree Sun, was released 31 years ago, in 1992, and in that period, he’s made a few shorts and the occasional contribution to an anthology film. So this is a big deal.
