Synchroneiskunstlauf wird olympisch. Der langgehegte Traum des Synchroneiskunstlaufs wird 2030 wahr, denn das Internationale Olympische Komitee hat die Disziplin im Format “Synchro 9” ins Olympische Programm für die Winterspiele in Nizza bzw. Lyon aufgenommen.

Die ISU hatte das Format innerhalb weniger Monate ab Herbst 2025 entwickelt. Bei der SyS-WM 2026 in Salzburg traten drei Demo-Teams aus Kanada, Finnland und den USA auf und stellten die neue Disziplin vor.

“Heute ist in der Tat ein historischer Tag für Synchron-Eiskunstlauf”, sagte ISU Präsident Jae Youl Kim. “Wir sind unglaublich stolz darauf, dass Synchro 9 die Familie der ISU Eislauf-Disziplinen bei den Olympischen Winterspielen komplettiert. Diese Entscheidung erfüllt einen Traum, den tausende Synchronläuferinnen und Millionen von Fans in der Welt teilen.”

In der neuen Saison 2026/27 started Synchro 9 mit den ersten Wettbewerben durch und wird Teil der WM 2027 in Nottingham sein. Bereits zuvor war Synchro 9 ins Programm der Olympischen Jugendspiele 2028 aufgenommen worden (anstelle des Paarlaufs). Synchro 9 wird zudem bei vier internationalen Wettbewerben in Irvine (USA), Vantaa (Finnland), Rouen (Frankreich) und Budapest (Ungarn) von November bis Februar vertreten sein.

Synchronized Skating goes Olympic

The long-held dream of synchronized skating will come true in 2030, as the International Olympic Committee has included the discipline—in the “Synchro 9” format—in the Olympic program for the Winter Games in Nice and Lyon.

The ISU had developed the format within a few months starting in the fall of 2025. At the ISU SyS World Championships 2026 in Salzburg, three demonstration teams from Canada, Finland, and the United States performed and introduced the new discipline.

"Today is a truly historic day for Synchronized Skating. We are incredibly proud that Synchro9 completes the ISU family of skating disciplines at the Olympic Winter Games”, ISU President Jae Youl Kim said. “This decision fulfils a dream shared by thousands of synchronized skaters and millions of fans around the world. These remarkable athletes will have the opportunity to showcase their talent on the greatest stage in winter sport, at Alpes 2030. Synchro9 captures everything that makes synchronized skating so special - teamwork, precision, creativity and artistic unison - while presenting the discipline in a dynamic, accessible and exciting new format designed to captivate new audiences.”

In the new 2026–27 season, Synchro 9 will kick off with its first competitions and will be part of the ISU World Championships 2027 in Nottingham. Synchro 9 had already been added to the program for the 2028 Youth Olympic Games (replacing pairs skating). Synchro 9 will also be featured at four international competitions in Irvine (USA), Vantaa (Finland), Rouen (France), and Budapest (Hungary) from November through February.
