Radha’s Rendezvous and Rasika Narrations (VK 13.1)

Vilāpa-kusumāñjali, Verse 13, Part 1 | Pratibhā Goswami

Verse:

»O my Goddess! When You go out to meet Kṛṣṇa in the moonlit night, Your eyes fearfully move in all directions, like bumblebees turning the whole forest into blue lotus petal-interiors. Is this person not to be seen by these eyes?«

Every rāsika devotee yearns for seva. Śrī Rādhikā is going to abhiṣāra (rendezvous). The sakhīs and mañjarīs long to catch a glance of Rādhikā and receive Her seva-ājñā (order of service).

Podcast

06:08–14:35 Līlā: Rādhārāṇī prepares for the meeting: Tulasi Mañjarī receives the seva to prepare the bed. Rādhā imagines Her path at night and, through this, teaches us how to perform rūpa-dhyāna (meditation on Her form). Listen as Rādhā adorns Herself, and Tulasi prays to always be engaged in this seva. (This līlā can be watched as an excerpt below.)

14:35 Why is progress in bhakti sometimes slow? Pratibhā Goswāmī explains: • Aparādha: we must not hurt anyone. • Anarthas: bad habits gradually vanish on their own. • Attachments to body, family, work, or wealth slow us down.

20:55 The Story of Prahlāda: Prahlāda receives a boon from Nṛsiṁhadeva to return to Godhead and ask for any wish. His wish? To take all living beings with him to Goloka. Hear the challenges Prahlāda faced in finding souls ready to join him.

38:55 The Lord as Relisher of Bhakti-rasa: Reflection on Bhagavad-gītā 9.26—patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ (If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, I will accept it.).

45:59–50:08 Līlā of Vidura and Vidurānī: Although poor, Vidura and his wife invite Kṛṣṇa for lunch. Out of excitement, Vidurānī mistakenly offers Kṛṣṇa a banana peel instead of the fruit itself. How does it taste to Kṛṣṇa? How does it connect to Gītā 9.26? Listen to this rāsika and sweet explanation by Pratibhā Goswāmī.

9:55 min.

Tulasi Mañjarī is unlimitedly happy to receive the seva to prepare the bed. Rādhā imagines Her path at night for going to the meeting with her beloved Krishna (abhisara) and, through this, teaches us how to perform rūpa-dhyāna (meditation on the forms and leela of Radha and Krishna). Listen as Rādhā adorns Herself, and Tulasi prays to always be engaged in this seva.
