How To Make The Most of Summer as an Emerging Creative

This week, the BRICKS team shares their top tips for taking advantage of the summer break.

Ah, summer – the season of endless sunshine, OOO, and that glorious feeling of finally escaping the tyranny of early-morning alarm clocks. For many emerging creatives and students, summer can feel like a brief respite. Of course, this does not mean holidays, lounging poolside or guilt-free binge-watching for everyone – some will be clocking extra hours at work just to keep the lights on and rent paid, which is no small feat and deserves serious credit. However, for those fortunate enough to have some free time, summer presents an ideal opportunity to avoid complacency and use that downtime productively.

With longer days, a more flexible routine, and often fewer commitments, summer provides the perfect environment to focus intensely on creative development, experiment with new techniques, and build a strong foundation for a future career. Whether through attending intensive workshops, assisting a new collaborator, or finally getting around to starting that personal project, this season can be a powerful catalyst for growth, inspiration, and professional development.
