I’m always amazed at how well dogs and humans work together and the special bonds that form. At a school in Bogotá, former street dogs find a new home, while the students gain loyal companions to help them through their stressful days. A true win-win situation for both. Enjoy today’s edition!

International study finds: Four-day workweek boosts well-being

An international study involving around 3,000 employees from 141 companies found that a four-day workweek without a pay cut boosts satisfaction — and also improves sleep, mental health, and energy levels. The positive effects were especially strong when working hours were reduced by eight hours. Source: 1NEWS

Early detection: Dogs can sniff out Parkinson’s disease

In a research project at the University of Bristol, specially trained dogs were able to detect Parkinson’s disease in humans with high accuracy. They correctly identified 70 to 80 percent of those affected based on their scent. This method could be used in the future for the early diagnosis of Parkinson’s. Source: SCIENCE ALERT

"Infinity Train"saves millions of liters of diesel

The "Infinity Train" from mining company Fortescue successfully completed a 1,100-kilometer test run across Australia—without any external recharging. Comeback in the sky: Blue-and-yellow macaws return after 50 years

For the first time, captive-born blue-and-yellow macaws have been successfully reintroduced into the wild using a method known as free flight training. Six birds are now living freely again in the wilds of São Simão, Brazil — 50 years after their local extinction. Conservationists are calling it a breakthrough in species protection.
