Quit smoking with an app? Meta-study confirms positive effects

The world of apps has grown huge—especially in health. We track sleep, cycles, nutrients in food, and much more. Now, a new meta-study shows that apps can also help people quit smoking. I’m a non-smoker myself, but at the start of the year, many friends and family often want to finally quit. For anyone planning to quit—or who knows someone who could use support—feel free to share.

Quitting smoking is tough. A meta-study shows that smartphone apps can nearly triple the chances of staying smoke-free. Many Indigenous languages in the U.S. are at risk of disappearing. Danielle Boyer wants to protect them and founded SkoBots. First Barbie with autism introduced

Toy maker Mattel has introduced its first Barbie with autism. The doll wears noise-canceling headphones and uses a tablet to communicate. She is designed to represent and empower children with autism. Source: LA TIMES

Austria abolishes tampon tax

Since January 2026, Austria has removed sales taxes on period products and contraceptives. Tampons, pads, menstrual cups, and condoms are now cheaper. They are also provided for free in schools, universities, and social institutions. The government aims to make access easier and fight period poverty. Source: VOL.AT

Saving endangered animals with “frog saunas”

Worldwide, the chytrid fungus threatens hundreds of frog species. To save green and golden bell frogs, Australian researcher Anthony Waddle developed a special frog “sauna.” It slightly raises the frogs’ body temperature, weakening the pathogen.
