The Art of Simon O'Rourke: A Tree, an Ent, and Roger Lancelyn Green

The Hobbit was published more than 75 years ago, The Lord of the Rings more than 50, and thanks to these two books Tolkien has inspired artists the world over for decades now. There is probably no medium that has not seen one of his characters or invented places being given a new interpretation.

However, on some occasions an artist's rendition of part of Tolkien's imagination makes you take note in a very special way, and in this particular case the images you can see above offer a clear link to J.R.R. Tolkien and his imaginary worlds.

Simon O'Rourke (Opens in a new window) is an environmental artist specialised in wood sculpture
