Pilot study shows new treatment restores vision for the blind

Doctors at Moorfields Hospital in London report a medical breakthrough: A novel eye injection restored vision in people with the rare condition hypotony, preventing blindness. In a pilot study, seven out of eight patients responded positively to the treatment. Source: BBC

New map uncovers hidden landscapes beneath Antarctic ice

Researchers used satellite data to create the first high-resolution map of the landscape beneath Antarctica’s ice sheet. The reconstruction reveals thousands of previously unknown hills and mountain ranges. The data could improve understanding of how Antarctica responds to climate change and its effects on sea levels. Zurich takes over basic medical care for uninsured residents

The city of Zurich introduces free basic healthcare for people without health insurance, including many undocumented residents. They can now receive care not only in emergencies but also for chronic illnesses. Zurich is allocating 1.9 million Swiss francs for the program. Source: ALPINE WEEKLY

Flight cancellation: Airline must also refund commissions

Alternative to toxic receipts developed

Toxic bisphenols are still present in many receipts and can be absorbed through the skin. Researchers at ETH Lausanne have developed a plant-based alternative made from wood components and sugars.
