Train from Turin to Levanto

Comfortable train journey, gazed out of window, marvelling at the rolling, green Italian countryside and the architecture – hills lined with houses of faded orange, peach, burnt ochre, small black-railed balconies and shutters of pale blue, mint green and light brown. The journey from Genoa to Levanto scaled the coastline – the sea shimmering.

Fell in love with Levanto the moment I entered the village – peaceful, calm, colourful, slightly touristy (felt less like an outsider). Narrow, lightly paved streets, colourful houses, gardens lined with lemon and olive trees, gellateries.
