Thanks to Ian Collier I was reminded of a series of short introductory films the British Council produced in the 1940s. Well over a hundred of them - from Architects of England (Si apre in una nuova finestra) over Merseyside (Si apre in una nuova finestra) to Development of the Rabbit (Si apre in una nuova finestra).
